Remember, Decopatch paper is relatively see-through, especially in the lighter colors, so first of all apply either a layer of white paint or paint of the same color as the paper you're pasting. You can also paste another layer of paper, for example a one color paper napkin, (the cheaper way) underneath before you start.

A geometric Decopatch design for a tray
Another use for Decopatch paper is shown in this geometrical collage design which gives this black tray a new lease of life!
decopatch paper Tape a protective band all the way round the inside of the tray. Next paint the inside in one color, in this case with a gloss paint that is smooth after drying thanks to the tray's flat surface.
Paint the sides and bottom in contrasting colors. Paint a second layer if needed (depending on the paint and the color contrast).
decopatch paper After removing the protective band, paint the remaining areas of black, over with white (to reduce problems with the transparency of Decopatch). Cut out strips of Decopatch paper, gently placing them where the first strips were set
Cut out triangles of different shapes from the Decopatch paper and set them on these strips.

Cut out a design to place in the center. Be careful not to let the glue spread too much over the gloss paint from the central design as this will leave an unsightly trace. For other types of paint, you don't have to worry about this problem.
