Cross stitching
In cross stitching, the easiest method is to embroider each cross side by side with another. The golden rule: always keep the crosses pointing in the same direction ! For more elegant and rapid embroidering, you have to work in a line. Make a line of half stitches (the diagonals of the cross stitch), which you finish on the way back.
The half stitch
This is simply a row of half stitches (like those used in the cross stitch) but which you don't come back to to finish off. Each row is done below or above the previous one in order to stitch on the return row. The half stitch is often used to mark shading (in this case, using one thread).
The shading of the leaves is done in half cross stitch.
The 3/4 stitch
